Community guidelines

Effective 2026-10-07. Questions: FuturesSupport@gmail.com.

These guidelines cover everything you share with other creators on Futures: posts, replies, quotes, reposts and mentions. They sit alongside the terms of service and the privacy policy. Your analytics are private to you and are not covered here.

What is not allowed

Each of these is a reason you can choose when you report a post, under the same name.

  • Spam. Repeated, duplicate or mass-produced posts, unsolicited promotion, and anything meant to inflate follows, likes or reposts artificially.
  • Harassment. Insulting, demeaning or intimidating a person, wishing harm on them, encouraging others to pile on, or continuing to target someone after they have made clear they want no contact.
  • Hate. Attacking or demeaning people because of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sex, gender identity, sexual orientation, disability, serious illness, age or veteran status.
  • Sexual content. Sexually explicit text or media, unwanted sexual remarks about anyone, and any sexual content involving minors, which can lead to an indefinite suspension at once.
  • Violence. Threatening violence, encouraging or celebrating violence against people, and promoting, encouraging or giving instructions for self-harm or suicide.
  • Private information. Doxxing, sharing anyone's real name when they have not made it public on Twitch, and posting off-platform contact details such as phone numbers, email or home addresses and other messaging accounts.
  • Impersonation. Pretending to be another creator, another person, a brand, Twitch or Futures staff in a way that could mislead.
  • Other. Anything else that breaks these guidelines, our terms or the law, including scams and fraud.

If someone may be at risk

Talking about a hard time, including thoughts of self-harm, is not against these guidelines. If a post makes you worried about someone's safety, report it as At risk. That is a request for help, not an accusation. Staff see at-risk reports first and can send the person crisis resources. A post reported as at risk can still be removed, but by default that removal does not count as a strike. Promoting or encouraging self-harm or suicide is different: it is prohibited under Violence.

Futures is not an emergency service

Reports are reviewed by people, and the review queue is not staffed around the clock. If you or someone else is in danger, do not wait for a report to be reviewed.

If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number.

You can find a helpline for your country at findahelpline.com. In the United States you can call or text 988 to reach the Suicide & Crisis Lifeline; veterans can reach the Veterans Crisis Line at veteranscrisisline.net.

What you can post

  • Posts are plain text of up to 500 characters, with up to five @mentions of other Futures creators.
  • No external links. A post that contains any web address other than one Twitch clip or video is refused.
  • You can attach one Twitch clip or past broadcast (VOD) per post by pasting its Twitch link. Futures shows it through Twitch's own player and does not copy it. Shared clips and VODs remain Twitch content under Twitch's Community Guidelines and Terms of Service, and if Twitch removes one it stops playing here.
  • Posting the same text with the same clip twice within 24 hours is refused, and posts containing certain blocked terms are refused.

How we enforce

Futures staff review reported posts. They can dismiss a report, remove a post, send crisis resources, or suspend social activity. A removal usually adds a strike, and strikes older than 90 days stop counting. The usual path is:

Active strikesUsual outcome
1st strikeA warning
2nd strikeSocial activity suspended for 24 hours
3rd strikeSocial activity suspended for 7 days
4th strikeSocial activity suspended indefinitely

Staff decide each case, so a serious violation can lead to a longer suspension sooner. You are notified when a post of yours is removed or restored, and when your account is suspended, with the reason and, for a suspension, its end date. A removed post shows “Removed” and the reason to you. If staff restore a post, its strike is cancelled.

What a suspension blocks

While suspended, you cannot post, reply, quote, edit, repost, like or bookmark, follow creators, send or accept friend requests, or add rivals. Your existing posts stay up. You can still read, report, block and mute, hide replies under your own posts, undo your likes, reposts and bookmarks, delete your own posts, and appeal.

A suspension never affects your analytics or goals.

Appeals

You can appeal a removal or a suspension from Settings → Moderation history. Each action can be appealed once, within 30 days of the action, in up to 1,000 characters. A member of staff reviews the appeal and either upholds or overturns the action, and you are notified either way. Overturning restores the post, cancels the strike or lifts the suspension.

Reporting

  • Reports are anonymous to the person reported. Your identity is never shown to them.
  • Reporting does not hide the post. After you report, you can block or mute the author straight away.
  • When your report is resolved you are told whether action was taken or no violation was found, but not what penalty, if any, was applied.
